Publicación Acceso abierto Design and simulation of an accelerometer with improved sensitivity response(Universidad del Valle, 2016-07-08) Tecpoyotl Torres, Margarita; Cabello Ruíz, Ramón; Vargas Chablé, Pedro; Robles Casolco, Said; Vera Dimas, José G.(Eng) The capacitive accelerometers based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), are widely used in the automotive industry, in seismic detection, and in military applications. The sensitivity is one of their main characteristics, which widely benefit their use in front of small acceleration changes. In this work, the elements considered in the analyses of these systems are mass and suspension beams, which constitute a mass-spring system. The mathematical modelling establish its mechanical response. Based on the equations of sensitivity and frequency of displacement response sets out the criteria to determine the geometry of the mass and the length of suspension beams are obtained in order to improve the sensitivity response. The importance of the stiffness constant is also considered as part of the design. In this case, the changes in the mass produces irregular geometries that, at the same time, allows to increase the beam’s length. The improvement in the sensitivity value permits the actuation at lower levels of acceleration. In addition, the simulation of the vibration mode, corresponding to the in-plane displacement, is carried out with the purpose of determining the appropriate frequency for the system operation. Material used for the actuator implementation is silicon. ANSYS is the software used to carry out simulations and characterization of the analyzed systems. Abstract We try to develop the basic elements that Aristotle’s definition of philosophy is based on, which are the ones mostly used as if it were understandable enough for a proper comprehension of philosophical activity. Taking into account the Aristotelian text (METAFISICA A, 1 y 2, 980 a 21 - 983 a 24), we approach the reflection on philosophy from two main perspectives: as a higher knowledge mode under the common understanding of the Greek, understood as σοφία, and as superior theoretical way of knowing itself, as φιλοσοφὶα. For this, we will consider the different knowing modes from the natural conditions that make them possible and stopping particularly at each of them. We conclude with a tentative definition of philosophy according to Aristotle, in the way that the elucidated is not the only possible for him. Introduction: Multiple sampling from different sites of the stomach as well as the number of fragments of gastric mucosa available for histopathologic evaluation are important sources of variation when classifying and grading chronic gastritis. Objective: To estimate the sensitivity of the number of fragments of gastric mucosa necessary to establish the diagnosis of atrophic gastritis with intestinal metaplasia, gastric dysplasia and H. pylori infection. In addition, this study will attempt to assess the intra-observer variability in the classification of these premalignant gastric lesions. Methods: This is a 6 year-cohort study, wherein 1958 gastric endoscopic procedures performed by two gastroenterologists were reviewed. Five gastric biopsy samples were obtained from the antrum, body and lesser curvature during each procedure. One pathologist was in charge of reviewing the five histopathology samples for each subject and providing a definitive diagnosis which was used as the gold standard. Each gastric mucosa sample reviewed led to an individual diagnosis for that sample which was compared with the gold standard. Intra-observer variability was assessed in 127 individuals who correspond to a random sample of 20% of the total endoscopic procedures performed during the 72 month-follow-up. Results: The sensitivity of the diagnosis of intestinal metaplasia (IM) and gastric dysplasia increased proportionally with the number of gastric mucosa samples reviewed. The lesser curvature of the stomach had the highest sensitivity for the diagnosis of IM and dysplasia, among all the stomach regions studied. Just one sample of gastric mucosa attained a sensitivity of 95.9% for the detection of H. pylori infection. The intra-observer agreement for the diagnosis of multifocal atrophic gastritis was 86.1% and the kappa value was 0.79 (95% CI 0.76-0.85). Alcohol-fixed biopsy specimens were inadequate to diagnose H. pylori infection and to assess dysplasia. Conclusion: The number of mucosa gastric fragments reviewed, the fixation method used, and the biopsy site are all important factors in order to ensure a correct classification of chronic gastritis.
