dc.description.abstract(Spa) En este artículo quiero explorar la idea de que la filosofía experimental desarrollada en la década de 1660, en Inglaterra, fue una propuesta que tenía dos objetivos principales: i) consolidar una nueva forma de investigar la naturaleza que permitiera comprender su diversidad y complejidad, donde el empleo del experimento y el rechazo de hipótesis especulativas eran las principales estrategias a desarrollar, implementar y defender; ii) Exigía una nueva actitud por parte de los filósofos naturales de la época sustentada en la experticia y en la prudencia en elaborar sistemas explicativos, la cual, en muchos casos, entraba en conflicto con los propios intereses de los investigadores. Esta tensión permite identificar unas diferencias interesantes entre la filosofía natural de carácter especulativo del siglo XVII y la naciente filosofía experimental, diferencias que no siempre son señaladas por los estudiosos interesados en la filosofía moderna temprana.spa
dc.description.abstract(Eng) In this article I want to explore the idea that experimental philosophy developed in England in the 1660s was a proposal with two main objectives: i) to consolidate a new way of investigating nature that would permit understanding its diversity and complexity, through the use of experiments and the rejection of speculative hypotheses as the main strategies to develop, implement and defend; ii) it demanded from natural philosophers of the time a new attitude based on the expertise and caution when developing explanatory systems, which in many cases conflicted with the interests of the researchers themselves. This tension permits identifying some interesting differences between speculative natural philosophy of the seventeenth century and the emerging experimental philosophy, differences that are not always considered by scholars of early modern philosophy.spa
