dc.description.abstractAnalizaremos las características de los cinco poliedros regulares convexos que Platón describe en el Timeo y esclareceremos los siguientes problemas: primero, mientras los poliedros regulares son cinco, los elementos naturales son solo cuatro; segundo, la transformación de unos elementos en otros; tercero, las proporciones que rigen las mezclas de los elementos, y cuarto, las consecuencias de la propuesta platónica en dos problemas científicofilosóficos de ese momento: la causa del movimiento y la existencia o no del vacío. Abstract We discuss the characteristics of the five convex regular Polyhedra described by Plato in the Timaeus and clarify the following issues: first, why the regular polyhedra are five and natural elements which are associated with are only four; second, how is possible the transformation of some elements in others, third, which proportions regulate elements mixture; and fourth, what are the consequences of the platonic proposal for two of the scientific-philosophical problems of that moment: the cause of movement and the existence, or not, of the vacuum.spa
