En el presente artículo se analiza la identidad del aborigen chileno, las características de la guerra en la Capitanía General de Chile, según la visión del jesuita Diego de Rosales. Se toma como base su obra titulada “Historia General del Reino de Chile Flandes Indiano”, publicada por primera vez en 1877 bajo la dirección del historiador Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, cuyo objetivo central fue promover la identidad nacional del chileno a través de la Historia. En segundo lugar, se analizará concepto “crónica” y la función persuasiva de la Historia para los autores y “cronistas” coloniales hispanoamericanos, teniendo en cuenta principalmente la explicación de la “otredad” latinoamericana según el paradigma europeo. Se asume finalmente, que el concepto de “crónica” ha sido denotado como una frontera epistemológica del discurso, obviándose las motivaciones, el contexto y el propósito de escribir “Historia” por parte de los cronistas hispanoamericanos. ABSTRACT This article analyses the aboriginal identity, the charasteristyc of the War in the Captaincy General of Chile, according to the vision of the Jesuit Diego de Rosales. His work titled “History General of the Kingdom of Chile Indian´s Flanders”, first published was in 1877, under the direction of the historian Benjamin Vicuña Mackenna, whose main objective was to promote the national identity of the Chileans, throughout the Historic Discipline as taken as the center. We will analyze the “chronic” concept and persuasive form, used by “chroniclers” colonialist from Latin American history function, taking into account mainly the explanation of Latin American "otherness", according to the European paradigm. Finally, we assumed that the concept of "chronic" has been denoted as an epistemological discourse frontier, ignoring the motivations, the context, and the purpose of writing "History" by the Latin American writers.
