Tuberculosis : expresión de belleza, horror y dolor.

Abstract

La tuberculosis es una de las entidades médicas más antiguas en la historia, probablemente la primera en afectar al ser humano. A lo largo del tiempo ha estado presente en diversas civilizaciones trazando su legado en los diferentes contextos. Este artículo explora algunas perspectivas pictóricas inspiradas en la enfermedad, que varían desde la belleza hasta el horror y dolor según la emoción que motiva al artista. Se toma como referencia algunas corrientes artísticas y obras pictóricas para ejemplificar las diferentes concepciones de la enfermedad, desfilando por el arte renacentista, barroco, expresionismo y abstraccionismo. Tuberculosis is one of the oldest illnesses in history, probably would be the first disease that affected human. Along the time it had been present in various civilizations making it´s legacy at different contexts. This article explores some pictorial perspectives inspired on that disease, ranging from beauty to horror and pain depending on the emotion that motivates the artist. It takes as references some artistic style and pictoric pieces to illustrate the different conceptions of the disease passing by the Renaissance, Baroque, expressionism and abstract movements
