This essay will explain how the narrative structure and scenarios of the first and final chapters of the Odyssey, or the Telemacheia, are a model for Diaz´s first work in ways less obvious than just the absence of a father in the household (albeit important) and his journey. The thematic emphasis of this monograph is not, however, on narrative techniques but on how the same journey towards male maturity leads very similar characters to two different destinations as the reflections of two very different contexts
